FRIENDS OF ELFARO

In December 2007, Lisa traveled to Casa Hogar Sion to play, work, and learn from the children of the “Casa Hogar Sion” Orphanage. A loving group of 140 kids, spanning from age 1 to 18, the Hogas Sion Orphanage has a full staff that has kept their huge Hogar family strong for over 8 years. In 2005, a group of Californians visited the Hogar orphanage, and ever since a new organiztaion has taken the reigns to help strengthen the Hogar staff: the Friends of Elfaro. AIDS LIFE CYCLE 6

In June 2007, Lisa bicycled 556 miles, from San Fransisco to Los Angeles, for charity. The seven day feate carried close to 3,000 riders and roadies, up 1,800 people from the previous year. The experience has enlightened her outlook on her own life, she continues to find ways of giving to the community. Former cycle team leader Bobby Purcell continues to support the cause: he will be riding again in June 2008! V E N T : VEHICLES for ENTERTAINERS to NURTURE TALENT

Created in Oct of 2006, V E N T was a weekly work session for talented artists: writers, directors, actors, dancers, and singers. The sessions gave artists the opportunity to execute and promote their work. So as not to share the creative artists process or work, any ideas and feedback that were offerred within the sessions were treated as confidential and geared solely toward assisting the artist with furthering his or her project. All projects required casting were cast a week or more in advance. V E N T has not died!

BEST LEADING ACTRESS: LA DRAMA CRITICS, LA WEEKLY, NAACP, AEA

In January of 2006 she received 3 Best Leading Actress nominations and 2 honors: an LA Drama Critics Circle, an LA Weekly, an NAACP nomination, a Backstage and a AEA honorable mention for her portrayal of MEDEA in the Paul Rocha version of Euripides' infamous Greek Tragedy. Ms. Tharps still receives recognition and job opportunities from her work in that role. She has also received recognition ‘nods’ for acting work she has performed in other local stage productions in the LA area.
